Two days wildwaterrafting on the
Pacuare river

Back to Tours List

Our overnight Pacuare adventure is a paddling and hiking expedition. Not only you will run a variety of rapids, but will also hike to pristine waterfalls and primary jungle. For those who came to Costa Rica for some real adventure, this is an excellent option!

Day 1: SAN JOSE/PACUARE RIVER

Early in the morning starts your adventurous trip. The pick-up is from your hotel in San José; a typical breakfast will be served on route. After the hand over of your raft gear and the instruction by your guide, an amazing descent starts through the rapids of the famous Pacuare river.

This day you will run about two and a half hours of continuous class II and III rapids. Then, shortly past noon, we will arrive at the beautiful Pacuare Lodge: right in time for lunch! Pacuare Lodge has been recognized by the World Tourism Organization as one of only sixty-five examples throughout the world as an example of good practice in sustainability and ecotourism. Afternoon activities include optional hikes, enjoying the surroundings or relaxing in a hammock.

Dine on gourmet delicacies by candlelight and then visit the upstairs lounge for a cocktail or refreshment (not included in the package) before retiring to a restful night sleep!

Day 2: PACUARE RIVER/SAN JOSE

Breakfast. Get ready for the second descent in the Pacuare River. All of class IV rapids are on this day, so now it's time to truly test the skills you acquired on the previous day. Today's rapids are significantly longer than those you run yesterday, with 23 kms (14 miles) to travel and about 30 rapids to take. Two stops will be made, one for a nice exploratory hike and another one for lunch on the river. At the conclusion of your river descent, you will be able to take a bath and change cloths in the Exploration Center. Then it is time to continue your trip to San José or to another destination.
