Rural and Comunity Tourism

Ecole Travel has set itself the aim to be actively involved in shaping Costa Rica’s future tourism. The focus is onsustainable tourism guaranteeing a low impact on the natural environment and culture, preserving values for generations to come.

Ecole Travel has knit close ties with other institutions to achieve progress despite the frequently controversial economic interests. Among these institutions are the ICT, the Costa Rican tourism board, and Actuar (Asociación Costarricense de Turimo Rural Comunitario). Actuar is dedicated to the task of promoting and strengthening community-based rural tourism in Costa Rica. It is the head organization of more than 20 environmentally oriented associations and community groups all over the country.

Together with Actuar, Ecole develops and promotes tourism services designed for the responsible traveler who wishes to experience the essence of the Costa Rican culture off the beaten track. These trips afford the opportunity to experience a stay in small villages getting to know the people, their customs and daily routines while exploring unspoilt natural places. Special care is being placed on the fair distribution of generated funds and protection of the environment. Profits are being reinvested into social projects aiding the communities.
